The location joins several other restaurants on Grove Street across from Jersey City Hall, a short walk from the Grove Street PATH station. The restaurant is still in its soft opening phase, but it’s already a hit with the community. Read on to learn more about Salt + Ginger.
Take control of the savage fusion
The former popular Asian restaurant, Wild Fusion, closed in October 2019. The pan-Asian spot specialized in Southeast Asian and Japanese dishes. Fast forward to February 2022, many locals spotted a new sign taking over from Wild Fusion.
In mid-March, Salt + Ginger opened for pickup and delivery orders only. Indoor dining then began in April, but to this day is still experiencing a soft opening. Staff use disposable plates and utensils to serve food and there is still construction inside.

The main feature of the restaurant, which is still being installed, will be the soup dumpling station (see below), which is set up as a table with chairs around which diners can sit and watch the chef preparing soup dumplings right in front of them.
The vibe of the local place is chill and quiet. Tables and chairs are spaced out and the number of seats is limited. Hanging wall plants and a backdrop of green plants take over the front of the restaurant, and there are plants around the restaurant as well, adding to the calm of the space.
Owner Kevin Gu said The Hoboken Girl, “We like being part of the neighborhood. It is very quiet and peaceful.
