Looks like Jessica is coming back for an adventure, and we could enjoy another apocalyptic-themed episode. And at one point, Rick injures himself while on a planet where it looks like they can see each other in parallel dimensions. We’ll also have another episode where we’ll see multiple Ricks, which is always fun.
Here’s a second trailer for the new season.
Here is the third official trailer for the new season.
You can watch the first two minutes of the new episode in this cold open aired on YouTube. If the cold opening sounds familiar, it’s because a storyboard version was released previously that had some minor differences in the dialogue.
Including season 5, we’ll probably have six more seasons of Rick and morty. After Season 3 ended in May 2018, Adult Swim has signed a contract for 70 more episodes a spectacle. Adult Swim confirmed with Heavy in a statement at the time: “Adult Swim has reached a long-term global agreement with the creators that will include 70 new episodes of the critically acclaimed series…”
Because there were 10 episodes of Season 4 that aired after the deal was signed, we’re looking at 60 more episodes from the series, including this season. Season 5 will feature 10 episodes on Adult Swim, so there will be another 50 episodes to watch after Season 5 ends.
Dan Harmon told Digital Spy that this new season will give the impression that the episodes are more connected than the previous seasons.
He said: “I am strongly against this reset button hitting where there is no awareness. I consider it to be smoking meat rather than cooking it. You kind of let the flavor of itself happen, and let that change things. … They sort of refine it. The age of the bit, it kind of season the characters. … Morty is fed up with Rick’s crap. He should. We wouldn’t want to see him wake up every day and say, “I wonder what my beloved grandpa has planned for me?”
