Meliá announces the exciting opening of Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, Thailand – Hospitality Net

The new luxury resort marks Meliá’s significant expansion into the Spanish group’s popular destination.

Leader of the Spanish hotel industry Melia International Hotels is pleased to announce the opening of Meliá Phuket Mai Khao this month. The resort, located on eight acres of Phuket’s northwest coast overlooking the Cerulean Andaman Sea, opened on Friday 19e November 2021.

Facing the longest stretch of sand in Phuket, the Melia Phuket Mai Khao is close to the magnificent Sirinat National Park, the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation and the exceptional Wat Phra Thong temple.

The striking new property showcases a collection of details to create a relaxing and restorative atmosphere, from saltwater pools, private villa pools and a reflection pond with sunken seating, water gardens, vertical waterfalls and to irrigation misting. The overall design of the resort pays homage to contemporary aesthetics combined with traditional Thai touches.

The beachfront property offers lavish suites and luxury wellness-inspired pool villas for families and couples to experience elite stays in a tropical setting filled with an abundance of amenities. The modern, bright and spacious Mediterranean-inspired suites and villas each have outdoor soaking tubs, open-air showers, and expansive outdoor terraces, allowing guests to truly enjoy the surrounding nature.

Guests are invited to relax in private cabanas or private plunge pools, while those staying in the “Wellness Villas” portfolio can enjoy an outdoor vitamin C shower, daily massages, Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser, GermGuardian Air Purifier, Tempur-Pedic Pillows, Yoga Ball and Mats, and more.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao offers a diverse culinary landscape from four outlets located within the resort. Guests can enjoy Mediterranean and fusion cuisine at the chic Gaia Beach Club, where they can sit poolside in cabanas and lounge chairs while sipping delicious cocktails. The elegant all-day restaurant, Sasa, specializes in Southeast Asian cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. In an intimate setting adorned with wood finishes, where guests will be offered fine and casual dining at night, Elyxr Café serves light meals and snacks, freshly squeezed juices and locally brewed liquors.

Shaded by a wide array of native plants, the resort’s design deploys a neutral color palette to complement the sandy shore of Mai Khao, creating a bright environment where the high ceilings, floor-to-roof glass panels and decorative metal screens blend harmoniously with the surroundings and enjoy the natural light.

Wellness enthusiasts can enjoy the resort’s exclusive YHI Spa, which features five luxurious treatment rooms. In addition to its extensive menu of massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps, the spa therapists also offer treatments by the pool and in the villa. Meliá Phuket Mai Khao’s modern fitness center is equipped with the latest fitness equipment and the Kidsdom kids’ club, with workshops for the youngest.

An idyllic venue for weddings and events, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao features a grand ballroom and two additional multi-purpose rooms; the resort’s event organizers also offer personalized catering and mini mindfulness sessions.

The debut of Meliá Phuket Mai Khao follows the reopening of the island to international travelers as part of the Phuket Sandbox implemented by the Thai authorities on 1st July. Under the program, fully vaccinated travelers from 68 countries who provide a negative COVID-19 test shortly before arrival are offered non-quarantine entry to Phuket.

Launched by Meliá International Hotels and owned by Thailand’s leading residential real estate developer Group of villas in Phuket, the five-star resort is part of a rollout of the Meliá brand in key destinations across Thailand, including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
