You won’t have to sing for your dinner at Kin Kao Song – but your first chance to get a table at the second outpost at popular Vancouver Thai spot Kin Kao is soon.
The sister location of the much-loved Commercial Drive restaurant will open on November 4, offering dinner service with natural wines and cocktails Thursday through Monday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Plans for Kin Kao Song were announced earlier this year when the Kin Kao team took over at 317 East Broadway in Mount Pleasant. The restaurant space was previously occupied by Black Lodge, the Twin Peaks themed vegetarian and vegan bar / restaurant which closed at the end of February.
But before you rush in and expect everything to be the same in Mount Pleasant and The Drive, note that things will be different. This summer, Terrence Feng of Kin Kao Song told VIA via email that guests can expect a menu different from the original Kin Kao on The Drive “with a great emphasis on accessible Thai cuisine but unique to Vancouver” .
The wines will come from British Columbia and around the world; the house wine will be Neon-Eon. Kin Kao Song will also offer original cocktails and draft beers.
The new restaurant has also launched a new standalone Instagram account. You can follow @kinkaosong for more information and updates on the opening.
