FDA: Must Hygiene Audit for Food and Confectionery Stores | Goa News

Panaji: With the festival season fast approaching, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has requested all food business operators in Goa to register for a food hygiene audit in 30 days. The FDA has also required all outlets that sell candy to display the expiration date next to each tray of candy or face fines.
All restaurants, bakeries, butchers, confectioners and any other store selling food products must undertake hygiene rating audits and all food stores that have a manufacturing category license must submit their annual returns online by August 31, otherwise a penalty of Rs 100 per day will be levied.
“Food sector operators (FBO) engaged in the sale of Indian Sweets must display the expiration date on each tray of candy displayed at their counter. Non-compliance will result in penalties, ”said FDA Director Jyoti Sardesai.
Last year, the FSSAI made it mandatory to write the “best before date” on candy plates in over-the-counter candy stores, but did not place any restrictions on the date the candies were made. Candy and packaged foods already have an expiration date along with details of manufacturing and food safety licenses.
All FBOs are required to display their FSSAI license and registration and the applicable Food Safety Display Board (FSDB) on company premises in a prominent location and also print it on invoices issued to customers, the company said. FDA.
Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 10, followed by Dussehra in October and Diwali in November. The new FDA guidelines are in line with the requirement that came into effect last year.
Food stores should also have at least one person who has food safety training and certification (FOSTAC). All requests for new licenses as well as renewals must be made online via the FSSAI portal.
