Fair Fare in the square returns to Garland

Garland residents will be able to sample Fair Fare on the Square again this fall, even before the State Fair of Texas opens on September 24. A number of downtown restaurants create signature State Fair dishes for their customers. After a great response to the first Fair Fare last September (when the cancellation of the State Fair left us craving our favorite foods), downtown restaurants are coming back with anything “fit to be fried or served on.” a stick ”. Fair Fare on the Square runs from September 1-30, giving local foodies a head start on the fair’s inspired flavors.

“We’re excited to see the State Fair return, and our program is perfect for anyone looking forward to starting their fair kitchen game,” said Dana Lodge, CVB and Director of Events for the Town of Garland. “The restaurants clustered around our downtown square have gone above and beyond with a tantalizing new ‘Fair Fare’ menu. With no admission fee and with items priced enticingly between $ 2 and $ 15, food and drink can be easily enjoyed outdoors. Participating restaurants can be found on Main, 6th and State Streets, on or within walking distance of historic Garland Square. Enjoy a nerdy dog ​​waffle or ‘trash’ beef brisket fries, followed by funnel cake fries with fruity pebbles or a churro sundae for a sweet treat. Wash it off with Big Tex Tea or S’moretado.

Main St. Café: Fried strawberries coated with chocolate. Main St Deli: Gyros (optional: add fries). Paw Paw’s Sweet Shop & Café: The Horny Toad – fried chili cheese; Fried Oreos; fried cookies; Fried PB & J; Fried twinkies.

5th Avenue Nutrition: Horny Dog Waffle; waffle cake funnel; cheese curd waffle; fried twinkie latte; Lemonade slush with yellow ribbon. Mrs. J’s Heavenly Delights: caramel apples and candies.
