DeLuca’s restaurant in Lansing to close after 60 years

At first we thought they were going to close.

And then they said there was an online buyer and they weren’t going to close.

Now, unfortunately, it’s official: DeLuca Restaurant in Lansing is officially closing its doors for the last time.

According to Lansing State Journal, there was an agreement with a buyer, however, the agreement failed. No word on why or how the deal failed, only that he did. And because of this, the owners officially decided to shut down the business.

Hurry, there isn’t much time

Even though DeLuca’s is officially closing its doors this weekend, you still have some time to grab a bite to eat before they close for good.

DeLuca’s will be open this Saturday (as in, this Saturday, November 6) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., or while supplies last. They will only have take-out from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the dinner-in-place option will be available until they close.

Part of the history of Lansing

It’s sad to see another part of Lansing’s history shutting down. DeLuca’s has been around for 61 years, serving deliciously cheesy pies with a recipe that comes from DeLuca’s father, Pat, “who immigrated to the United States from southern Italy in the late 1930s.”

While this ending may be sad, it is certainly more bittersweet; DeLuca was sure to thank loyal customers and employees over the years, saying:

“We have been fortunate to have wonderful employees and wonderful customers. What more could you ask for. What a trip.”

If you have time on Saturday, stop by, grab a pizza, and say goodbye.
