Seven Seven Six has been joined by a number of leading tech players including Soma Capital, VERSO Capital, Cruise founder Kyle Vogt and actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, bringing the total amount raised by the company this year to over of $ 4 million.
“Better Brand is revolutionizing the foods we love by making major advances in food technology, starting with refined carbohydrates and creating healthy and delicious alternatives,” said Alexis Ohanian, founder of Seven Seven Six. “With the exponential growth that we have seen in the herbal sector, there is a clear demand for alternatives to foods considered unhealthy and unsustainable. I am excited to support Better Brand and to work with Aimee to bring her vision to the world.
The food tech start-up is focusing on modified enzyme technology, which made it possible to create its first flagship product, The Better Bagel. The Better Bagel has completely redefined traditionally high carbohydrate food by reducing the carbohydrate content of a traditional bagel to the carbohydrate equivalent of two banana slices, while delivering an impressive 24g of protein. The company plans to apply its proprietary processes and Grain-Changing Technology ™ to various product categories to completely overhaul consumers’ existing relationship with food.
Aimee Yang, Founder and CEO of Better Brand, founded the consumer food technology company to solve her personal problems related to diet and healthy eating. “I have struggled with the diet all my life, constantly oscillating between feeling guilty or deprived,” Yang said. “I used to dream of a world where I could eat whatever I wanted without having to worry about weight gain or negative health consequences. Better Brand is now making this world a reality.
“It starts by tackling refined carbohydrates – a more than 10 trillion dollar industry causing overall negative impacts on human health, both physical and mental,” Yang added. “We are delighted to continue to be pioneers in innovation in this area and grateful to have an incredible team of partners on board to help advance our mission. “
Additional funds will be used to advance R&D, accelerate recruitment and prepare the company for large-scale retail distribution. As the business evolves, Better aims to use its breakthroughs in food to inspire and empower a world without unnecessary barriers and limitations in every way. As the company’s mission states, “Better Brand is not just a food technology company. Instead, we are founded on a simple yet powerful set of ideas. We believe that unnecessary limits are meant to be exceeded. We believe that everyone deserves to fully enjoy freedom and joy. We believe that a better world is possible. And we know that together we will create it.
